2010 Health Classes for Maasai Women
The first quarter of 2010 started off strong for Kitumusote with health classes taught by health expert and British volunteer , Helen Norton. Maasai women were taught how to recognize the first signs of illnesses such as malaria infection, pneunmonia, diarrhea and fever. They were given information on the best way to organically treat the early symptoms of each illness and how to know when someone required more serious medical attention.
The women also enjoyed the discussion on pregnancy and were delighted to learn how women gave birth in the UK. Maasai women generally give birth in a birthing boma where village women come together to assist the women giving birth.
